1939 Washington Quarter PCGS PR67 Sold
I adore mid-century US proof coinage and it is one of the areas of numismatics where I can completely embrace a white, or untoned, coin. These coins were produced in relatively small numbers (in this case 8,795 pieces) and a fair number have been lost to attrition, mishandling or just plain non-attractiveness. This coin has that terrific appearance of a piece that stayed within its original government cellophane for quite a while and then fortunately took on a very deep rainbow arc around most of the obverse and some of the reverse. The images are PCGS True Views (the coin was obtained after it had gone through the process) and it is largely accurate, though a coin through the slab always looks a tiny bit different than one in-hand. I like this piece a lot. Sold
