Thomas Bush Wins David Lawrence Literary Award (Again)

Most anyone who follows my site or reads my articles will realize that I place a rather large emphasis on education.  This goes beyond simply knowing what one is doing and crosses over into sharing that information and educating others who are willing and eager to learn.  Over the years I have given away my knowledge to thousands of folks in person, in online discussions, in print and on my website.

One of the non-profit educational organizations that I am a member of is the Barber Coin Collectors' Society (BCCS).  The BCCS publishes a quarterly journal comprised of member articles and there is quite a good bit of information contained within each issue.  Recently, the BCCS made a decision to hold what might be termed a readers-choice award for the most outstanding article published in the prior year.  This award has been given the name The David Lawrence Literary Award in honor of the late David Feigenbaum, better known to many as David Lawrence.  The results of the first granting of this award led to my 2015 article titled A Simple Study on the Frequency of the Center Mintmark Position for 1897-S Barber Quarters winning first place for 2016.  The results of the second granting of this award have led to my 2016 article titled Circulated Barber Half Dollars-A Look Back at Two Decades of Specialization winning first place, as well, for 2017.  Those folks who belong to the BCCS or who read my site would have seen this article last year, but I wanted to bring attention to it again given the reception it received within the BCCS community.  Recordings of the BCCS meeting at the ANA are also linked for those interested in the society.  As per last year, I donated the entirety of my prize back to the BCCS to use for YN scholarships.

I thank the BCCS and its members for this award and will continue to support it and similar numismatic societies that are geared toward education.
